    Sunny & 75

Here’s to hoping it’ll be sunny & 75 soon so we can finally lounge in our resort wear that we’ve been waiting on this whole season! I don’t know about you, but I could use a little more sun & a lot more pool this summer! Imagine your perfect pool side day with your best friends…what would it be like? Mine would be filled with my favorite summer  music playlist, my goofy best friends, a good book, & some of our new SJ swimsuits. Our ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Sun’ collection is out & thriving with our resort wear! We have one pieces, bikinis, cover ups, towels, & wet buckets that are  absolutely necessary for practical pool or beach day. Take a look at our pieces that create a fun & chill vibe for your elevated swim taste!

If you want to have an aesthetic resort look I would go for our Mahalo Spirit One Piece! The Mahalo is a sage green that is the perfect mix of army & soft green put together. This swimmie has ruffle straps, an open back, & figure flattering high sides that gives the illusion of longer legs which is always a plus! Since the Mahalo is a solid color add a light colored cover up for a soft contrast. The Breezing Through Linen Jacket is a white linen cover up that has long bubble sleeves that has a really good flowy back. Perfect for covering up the shoulders from a sun burn, the linen jacket is thicker so the sun doesn’t burn through.

Any resort wear look is adorned with accessories like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hats, sunnies, & hair clips. I always style everything with gold because it just pops in the sun, so I’d pop some mini gold hoops on with a gold necklace that flatters the neckline of the swimsuit! If we’re going for an extra pool day, I love to dress it up by layering gold bangles. This just adds a little more pizazz to a hot pool day. We have a ton of new sunnies from a great brand that designs them based off famous runway models. When you see the sunnies & the name that goes with them you can instantly tell what model they are inspired by. The latest sunglasses we got in are called The Lily after Lily Aldridge. They have the slightest mix of light pink & cream with a black tint. Another way to dress the Mahalo up is to add some sleek sandals. We have beige, black, & salmon colored flats with a gold design that matches the gold accessories paired with it.

I’m the kind of girl that always forget to bring my own towel to the pool, but I’ll remember to bring the snacks! This year SJ is going to help me not to forget to bring my practical items, because it helps complete the whole look. The towels & wet buckets are such great quality from a brand we love called The Beach People! All the towels are long & have fun patterns like our daisy flower light blue travel towel. We have a desert taupe, daisy, verte, & gingham travel towel that has fringe on the edges. My favorite is the gingham because of the contrast of the white & peachy hues! This towel reminds me of a dreamsicle snow cone which would be perfect on our hot pool side day! Bring all your snacks & sunscreen in the chocolate, stone, or cream wet bucket. They have the BEST quality & leaves a lot of room for books, towels, water bottles… anything you want on your perfect pool day can fit inside this tote!

  • It Girl Essentials

    It Girl Essentials

Open up your closets ladies, because today we are going to go through some “It Girl” essentials that need to be added to your wardrobe! We just launched our It Girl Collection this past Wednesday which includes staple pieces that I believe every one needs to build a great outfit with. A staple for me can be a simple neutral colored top or bottom that can be layered with accessories. A problem I have is that I am a big shoe girl, so I’ll end up buying funky or really cool colored shoes that don’t easily go with everything. But, if you have different neutral options in tops or bottoms or dresses then it can be easy to throw them in.

When we were at market we came upon this really great brand that sold my new favorite dress, trousers, & cozy lounge set. All these pieces have very different textures, but they’re all a soft cream color. The Dune Button Up Dress has an asymmetrical detail in the buttons that goes diagonal across the front with a slit at the bottom. The Dune is a cream colored midi that can be paired with your fun colored heels or sneakers. The dress is classic because of the color with a twist of unique so I deem it essential enough  for you!

Our Milena Trousers are too good to pass on! When we saw them on the rack, Shelby & I immediately geeked out over the soft yet silkyness of them. I immediately bought them when they came in because I can literally wear them with anything. You can dress it up with a silk blouse or sweater. I even paired it with a t-shirt & my sneakers for an edgy look! The perfect word for these trousers is versatile! Another plus about these bottoms is that they are super light weight… it feels like you’re wearing silk pajama pants!

My style shifts a lot depending on my mood, but this year I realized how much I love streetwear & dressing up cozy lounge sets! Who says you can’t be comfy & stylish at the same time! Wearing the Mavis Fuzzy Lounge Top & Pants is like being cuddled up in the softest blanket you can ever imagine. Last week, I added our Monte Wool Trench Coat in oatmeal, Savannah Sneakers, The Lily sunnies, & our Soft Top Beret all together with the Mavis to create an airport fit that tops all the others! The Mavis is an essential because you will always need something comfy to wear that’s still stylish & all within the neutral color palette.

  • Dress It Down

    Dress It Down

As you may know, our Full Bloom Collection came out last week which included mainly midi dresses that were billowy & full of life! When coming up with the Full Bloom Collection I looked at all of our dresses that came in & was inspired to dress them down. It can be really easy to throw on a pair of heels & call it a day, but dresses can be more than just a going out piece. I imagined our model to be surrounded by flowers, walking around tending to her plants on a warm day with her trusty dog at her side. She saunters through her garden taking in all pretty colors while looking cute & effortless. A nice gardening day doesn’t mean you have to thrown on some overalls or shorts!

Here are some things you can pair with the SJ Dresses to dress them down!

    Sneakers

One major key to making a dress super casual is to pair her with sneakers, flats, or sandals! In this case, I paired the Maxine Sneakers with one of our dresses because she’s around tools in her garden so they’re for protection! A really cool sneaker can make a dress more urban & ultimately more comfortable.

    Hats

I always say that a hat can complete any look, especially if it’s one of our SJ straw hats! Since our model was in her garden outside, I wanted her to have protection on her head but something that will give her shade. She needed something that wasn’t too heavy as well, so I used the Willa Woven Seagrass Gambler, Gia Peeper Straw Rancher, & the Sunshine Straw Hat. These hats are great for the beach too- to keep the sun away & still looking super cute at the same time!

  • Barefoot in a Meadow Dress

    Barefoot in a Meadow Dress
Listen up ladies!! I'm keeping it light today with the reading because after all, it is a Monday! This is the time where I day dream about summer being near...I mentally start to plan all my free & airy dresses that I want to wear. I always make a summer goal for myself: that i'll wear sundresses at least 4x a week. I tend to go for an effortless & flowy sundress with light makeup & either a low, loose bun, or keep my wild hair down. I call my summer aesthetic the
"barefoot & carefree day dreaming in a meadow while looking like a princess" look.
Let me take you through some dresses that I feel would match my aesthetic from SJ!

    Lucia Midi Dress

All hail the beautiful Lucia with her light yellow & cream color smocked pattern! This dress is so unique because of the all over floral pattern that sort of looks baroque. The open back ties together with a white ribbon that compliments the dresses pattern. This is definitely a barefoot walkin' dress to your favorite spot in the meadow! The silhouette is so elegant, yet carefree which is not like most dresses.

    Twirling Sage Midi Dress

Nothing says running through a meadow like a sage midi dress that has ruffles on the sleeves! My favorite part of this dress is one that no one really notices: the way the bottom of the dress flows because of the way the seam runs! It allows the dress to be so true to it's name. Pull your hair up in a loose pony to show off the slight ruffle sleeve!

    Making Memories Midi

I think the key to a perfect carefree meadow dress is for them all to be a midi length. It allows you to have that ethereal flowy look, but not too overwhelming. The Making Memories is princess like because of the silk & pattern. The pattern has light map outlines in this navy blue that makes the cream silk standout. She's mysterious & adventurous making her even more unique & perfect for a walk in the garden!
